Vtg 1890s Steamer Plymouth Fall River Line Mass Baggage Claim Truck Brass Tags.

In 1894 the Captain of the Plymouth, Capt. Elijah "Danger" Davis ran her aground near Plymouth Rock. The Plymouth was carrying 700 passengers and the grounding was witnessed by a host of dignitaries, assembled to enjoy the trial voyage of her sister Fall River steamer Priscilla, which sailed past the stranded Plymouth, as the crew tried to free her from the shoal.

Fall River Line''s night boat Plymouth was built for service on Long Island Sound. Before the opening of the Cape Cod Canal to passenger steamer.

The 2 brass tags are attached to their original leather tag and meant to go around passenger steamer trunks with the 2nd brass matching number tag kept to claim the trunk from storage after boarding. What a cool and tough piece to find piece of travel history! I purchased from a nautical collector''s estate out of Boston.
