Beautifully crafted copper plate enameled with a gold background for a sunburst design in orange red and black. A strong composition by Miguel Pineda who was born in Mexico City in 1940 and is considered one of the foremost enamelists of Mexico. His extensive body of work includes jewelry, trays, vases and church commissions including the famous panels on the 36 doors of the Shrine of the Virgen de Guadalupe in Mexico City. His motifs range from abstract modernist to pre-columbian in many enamel techniques of which he is a master.
