Shown is a Japanese Moribon, (tray) for displaying seasonal fruit and leaves, in an object having an irregular, rippling form. The tray is made from one piece of natural burl wood in an elongated oval shape with a single large and complex, twisting handle. This beautifully carved tray and handle retain the natural form showing nodes, knots, and protrusions. Natural and yet polished, this tray conveys the tension inherent between the natural material and the refined work of the artisan. It has a natural variegated brown translucent finish.
